REVIEW,,,  ( QUATE: VOGUE. ITALIA )

Mood/Style:
Marc Jacobs is certainly one of the most influential and interesting designers
on the New York scene. Always surprising in his choices, he is capable of renewing
with courage and a great sense of show. Every fashion show contains a different message
and is full of references and contrasting elements: a Marc Jacobs fashion show is an
intense and stimulating experience, like a good movie or a performance in an art gallery.
This season, the theme of severe and stiff elegance, strict and designed with almost
spasmodic precision. No softness or concession to super-feminine and light lines.
On the contrary, the concept seems to be that of harshness and discipline that requires
the pursuit of impeccable elegance. It hints, perhaps, at an inspiration of the
‘50s couture years and the severity of its constructions, but everything is blended
by the provocative and desecrating vision of the designer

Lengths:
below the knee or midi

Colours:
black, bordeaux, blue, white, ivory, grey

Fabrics:

traditional fabrics such as wool, crepe, cashmere are rendered provocative and
surprising by the use of latex, spread over fabrics to make them hybrid and desecrating, adding an artificial twist of classic shapes. Organza, cellophane, polyester, lamé

Shapes:
the silhouette is narrow and super-controlled and the whole fashion show proposes
variations of the same theme: very tight pencil skirts with jackets with fitted waists
and stiff basques; short, cloaks balanced by cuts worn over short latex pants; tube
dresses with a radical effect over latex or cellophane shirts; tight skirts and tops
shaped by thick latex tablets with an oversized sequin effect

Accessories:

felt and vinyl berets secured by straps below the chin; calf-length rubber wedge rainboots; very high-heeled patent-leather mary-janes; stiff doctor bags; fur inlay clutches
